Pin it Blog Hop and Giveaway

I am excited to participate in the Pin It Blog Hop.  The theme of this blog hop is pincushions.  There have been some amazing pincushions already shown in the first four days of this hop.

The pattern I chose for my pincushion is called "The Abbey Bag" by Abbey Lane Quilts.  It was a very fun project to make.  I used a couple of sewing-themed fabrics from the Love to Sew line from Michael Miller Fabrics.  The bag that is attached to this pincushion is a great place to throw your discarded threads while you are sewing at your machine or small fabric scraps if you are using it at your cutting table.  I stuffed my pincushion with crushed walnut shells.

I also got to thinking, this would be an excellent thing to have on the arm of my favorite chair while I am hand sewing the binding on my quilts.  I can keep my spool of thread, a small scissors, and my binding clips in the pouch and store my needle on the pincushion when I am not using it.

Kits available

I have put together some kits for this pincushion and bag using the fabrics pictured above, and they are available in my online quilt shop, Stitchin' It Up Quilt Shop.  If you want to use your own fabrics and just need the pattern, you can purchase the pattern alone

Sew Along

For those of you that want to try this pattern to make your own pincushion, I plan to host a Sew Along starting on Monday, September 30 and will post tips for you that I discovered while I made my pincushion.  Order your pattern or kit today and join me.

Thank you

Thank you to the mastermind behind this blog hop, Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt, and the super organizer of the pincushion hop and my friend, Kristen from Meadowbrook.  It was a privilege to participate in this well-organized blog hop.  I look forward to participating in future hops.
