Cozy Cabin Block of the Month and Giveaway Week #2

Cindy at Quilt Doodle Doodles posted the instructions for her February block for the Block of the Month quilt she is hosting in 2014. The February block she calls "Cozy Cabin." Here is my version of "Cozy Cabin."

Since I live in Minnesota and we have lots of snow here this time of the year, I added an extra layer of snow to my roof to make to make it more "Minnesota-like."  Cindy is planning to add white yo-yos in the sky to her quilt for snowflakes.  I am hoping to locate some snowflake buttons to add to the sky in my block.  Looking forward to what she has in store for us in March!

  5. I have never done a Block of the Month but would like to try it. I just don't know that I'd follow through with it! I know I'd like some of the blocks and not others so I wouldn't finish. But...I do find blocks that I like and then create a quilt around those blocks. In this case.. I love your house block. I am planning on making a quilt or a table cover (54"x54") with houses around the sides so your block might be in that creation! Thanks for the drawing!

  15. I did a BOM with my LQS that was all batiks, and was simply lovely. The blocks weren't big, and they were easy to do so that made it great for me.

  19. I participated in a Forest galorist BOM last year and loved it. It broke down a difficult (for me) quilt to more manageable parts and now I am doing complicate quilts more easily. I love BOM's. Good idea with the Minnesota snow.

  22. I am very new to fabshophop, just started sewing again after many years. I have never been involved in the BOM's but as I have been hopping around I see some great quilts I'd liked to do. I just don't want to do anything too hard in the beginning. What about fringe, for the snow???? I live in Cali, we will be 78 degrees today. NO SNOW HERE.
