Amazingly, this entire quilt is made from two jelly rolls (one of those jelly rolls being prints and the other a solid) and an additional 1/2 yard. The pattern for this quilt is a free Moda Bake Shop pattern called "Sweet Menagerie" and can be found here. The finished size of the quilt as written is approximately 66 x 90. I was able to stretch my jelly rolls even further and squeak out several more blocks to make a quilt that measures approximately 80 x 90.
Work in Progress
Here is sneak preview of some blocks I am making using another jelly roll and a different pattern. This is a NEW jelly roll from Moda's Hubba Hubba line by Me and My Sister Designs available in my online quilt shop here. I am ready to start assembling the blocks. I will reveal the finished quilt soon.Giveaway

I recently made a quilt from a pattern called "under the sea" from the book "quilts from sweet jane" by Sue Pfau. I think it would be lovely in many different colors and collections of fabric. In case you aren't familiar with the pattern, you can see my version here:

ReplyDeleteLove this! You have 'made' me want to go shopping for jelly rolls!! . . . I have only done two quilts with JRs, a JRR quilt and the square in a square. Liked making them both but love the square in a square look.
ReplyDeleteI made a quilt last year with Moda's Pb&j jelly rolls in a pattern called "picnic" with my bestie... we had fun piecing them and they are both finished handquilted quilts now :) Kathi
ReplyDeleteI love your jelly roll quilts! Jelly roll quilts are so much fun, on my list is a scrappy trip around the world using a jelly roll.

ReplyDeleteI have a jelly roll that I have not used as yet. I hear everyone rave about the jelly race quilt(?). I would like to try that.
ReplyDeleteI am an email follower of yours! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am not a scrappy quilter, so I have never used a Jelly Roll before, but this year I am trying to learn to get out of this box of tailored, structured and matching quilt style I am in, so a Jelly Roll of any kind would be a great place to start!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make "Off Track" with a Jelly Roll. The first quilt I did was a jelly roll race and it was such fun. Of course it took me about 4 hours, so I think I came in last, but I still love it! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and I prefer to follow by email whenever that's an option, as I do with your blog.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I was a winner. Thank you for the chance to be the winner. The last jelly roll I used was from Moda, Serendipity.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy making rail fence quilts with jelly rolls. Half the work (cutting) is already done before I even start. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower with Bloglovin'. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! this quilt is so cheery. What a great use for jelly rolls. Although I love cutting and sewing with strips, I have to admit that I've never bought a jelly roll! I love all of the fabric variety though!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you shared at Needle and Thread Thursday!

I would be happy with any Jelly roll. I cut my own stash for quilts and have not bought any Jelly Rolls. I have purchased charm packs and fat quarter bundles, fat quarters for other projects. My regular email is celiaambrose@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteYour jelly roll quilt is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I'm planning to make this Wishes String Quilt featured in the Moda Bakeshop. http://www.modabakeshop.com/2014/01/wishes-string-quilt.html#more. My favorite thing about quilting is looking at the lovely fabric, and this quilt showcases it well. And it will be great to sew with precut jelly rolls! Thanks for the awesome chance to win! Your shop is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI follow your inspiring blog via Bloglovin. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI do like that Moda Recipe that you are using.
ReplyDeleteI really like using the jelly roll strips in patterns that call for 2 1/2" strips. I've made the Jelly roll race which was fun. Right now I'm finishing a quilt pattern, "Saluations by Happy Quilting Melissa" which uses a jelly roll, layer cake and plain yardage. I'm loving how it's turned out. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI follow by email. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is really cute. I haven't tried that pattern but it looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower through email. Thank you for the chance at the giveaway. Had a peek around your shop too. Lovin that Twice as Nice bundle.
ReplyDeleteOne I have in progress is a variation on Carrie Nelson's (Miss Rosie Quilts) Quadrille, done in the Aviary fabrics but from Moda scrap bags, which requires a ton of trimming to get 2 1/2" strips and piecing two strips with a 1 1/2" inset to make the 5 1/4" quarater square triangles. Gaahhh.

ReplyDeleteThe Hubba Hubba Jelly Roll would be so much fun for a fresh spring quilt - beautiful bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the Sweet Menagerie pattern jelly roll quilt. A beautiful pattern to try out the wonderful colors that the jelly rolls have to offer.
ReplyDeleteI' a Bloglovin' follower and I am lovin' your blog!
ReplyDeleteI've got so many strippy projects in mind that I could use a hundred jelly rolls to save cutting strips. I do have a couple on hand, and now am motivated to make the quilt you've shown. Have downloaded the instructions and will be happy to cut the solid strips. They likely won't be "solid" tho -- probably a light colored batik or tone on tone. Glad you are sponsoring these giveaways and thanks a bunch.
ReplyDeleteI bought an ivory jelly roll, but, have yet to untie it. Still waiting to have the time to begin a new project I love pre-cuts, too.
ReplyDeleteI am planning to make a quilt called s'more love with a jelly roll. Love batik jelly rolls in particular.
ReplyDeleteI really like Off Track by Cluck, Cluck Sew. It is great for men and children. Jelly Rolls are such a great discovery along with Charm Squares!!
ReplyDeleteI think I did something wrong. I don't want my reply deleted. Maybe this will help.
ReplyDeleteI love making quilts with jelly rolls and your quilt looks fabulous! I'll have to add that one to my list. I made the cartwheels pattern from the bake shop and it turned out so cute. It's twin size.
ReplyDeleteone of these days, I plan to make a "1600" jelly roll quilt. I haven't decided WHICH jelly roll to use, so I keep buying candidates ;->
ReplyDeleteLove your patterns. I made a quilt called tessellating stars from a jelly roll that I love.
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new to quilting even tho I have sewn for years. I really love the new Moda fabric and the Hubba Bubba collection. I think I would like to try and make something with that one for sure. I am looking and have seen a lot of new fabrics that aren't in my local store. I am getting very excited!
