I loved this quilt at first sight at that quilt show and put it on my list of quilts I was going to make some day. Several years ago I purchased the pattern and starting collecting pictures of finished Eureka! quilts from the internet showing other quilters' color combinations. I finally decided mine was going to be greens and purples and purchased my fabrics. It was then a work in progress for more than a year, but I finished the top last March. It then sat in the "to be quilted" pile for nearly a year. I pulled it out of that pile this month and finally got it quilted and the binding finished. I am really pleased with how it turned out. If I counted correctly, the queen-sized quilt has 3,112 pieces. The finished size of the quilt is 87 x 105 inches.

wow, that is incredible! Well done on finishing it. On my "bucket list" is a Cathedral Windows quilts, I suspect it may be on my list for many years!
ReplyDeleteI'm a newish follower from GYB
ReplyDeleteStunning quilt!
ReplyDeleteA swoon quilt is still on my bucket list!!
That looks lovely. I can't imagine how long it would take me! Congratulations on the finish.
ReplyDeleteI am presently working on completing the border of Tweets by Erin tu snick.
ReplyDeleteYour Eureka quilt is simply stunning! The colours you chose are perfect. What a LOT of work and a fabulous finish!
ReplyDeleteI follow you via Bloglovin'. Beautiful finish! I found you on Richard and Tanya's site. I love your colors.
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful and uses two of my favourite colours. It looks like such a lot of work, but the end result is so worth it, an heirloom for sure.
ReplyDeleteI have a bucket list. I keep them on one of my Pinterest boards. This week I finished a UFO. It was a 2012 Spring Mystery Quilt. I posted a pic of it on Richard & Tanya's blog today. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I saw Eureka about 10 years ago and it was on my bucket list until I got the pattern and it looked so complicated.I put it aside. Seeing yours finished inspires me to at least reconsider. Purple is the perfect accompaniment for green. Beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteNew follower on bloglovin! I would love to finish my current Flirt Panel that I am playfully quilting. Thanks for the chance and for showing off your lovely bucketlist quilt
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt - green & purple is a favorite combo of mine! I follow on GFC.
ReplyDeleteMy bucket list: Mariner's Compass. I've slowly been collecting blue batiks for it. Love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a beautiful quilt. Storm at Sea is on my bucket list.
ReplyDelete3112 pieces! Incredible! That project needed patience for sure. I don't think I would've had enough. But the result is certainly worth it. Stunning! The project on top of my bucket list is my winter quilt. I hand-appliqué the block two winters ago. I sew the top last winter. I prepared it for quilting last month. I really should do the quilting now. But there's always another idea in the way...
ReplyDeleteWow, that is really quite beautiful!! You did a very lovely job on it! :) My bucket list quilt right now is an orange slice quilt--I have never done curved piecing!
ReplyDeleteWould love for you to stop by and link this up to Fabric Frenzy Friday!

ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! I love this! I can't imagine that many pieces. My bucket list quilt is anything to do with curves! I'm scared to try them, but I really want to make it happen.
ReplyDeleteI make quilt tops for my group, World of Charity Stitching and recently made a nice Sunbonnet Sue quilt top from embroidered squares made by one of our members.

Gorgeous quilt! Truly a bucket list wonder.
ReplyDeleteI too have a bucket list, but instead of getting smaller, it just keeps growing. Perhaps I should be more selective!?!

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!. Now I will have to google image this pattern to see other colorways too! I'll have to see if the pattern is still available... My bucket list has red and white quilts on it; I have two started and probably have enough blocks for the bow tie quilt to assemble it!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is stunning! What joy you must have felt when it was nearing the finish! Green and purple is m favorite color combination too. I have a Judy Niemeyer Celtic Wave pattern that I bought last year, and I haven't started it yet. Several family members and friends and coworkers got married or had babies this year, so that's where my quilting efforts have gone. But this year I hope to make Celtic Wave for me! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful creation and for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI follow your lovely site via Bloglovin. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteMy quilt shop did this quilt a year ago and those that did it they are all beautiful! Your color combination is gorgeous! This is such an accomplishment. Congrats on a bucket list finish!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I am working on a New York Beauty...one of my bucket list quilts!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! The colors, the movement, everything! Just love it!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is AMAZING and even better in person! To think, I remember the day you bought those fabrics! Congratulations on a job fantastically done!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a beautiful quilt, you did an incredible job! My bucket list quilt is an Irish Chain.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing accomplishment!!! I don't really have a bucket list of quilts to make, but I would like to make enough Cathedral Windows for a cushion sometime :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is fantastic!!! My bucket list quilt is a Double Wedding Ring. I am a new follower on Bloglovin
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your quilt. I recently finished a "Wimpy Kid" quilt for my granddaughter. I embroidered the pictures from the covers of the books, and used materials containing the color for each book for the squares between the pictures. My bucket list includes a quilt for each of my 12 grandchildren. So far I have completed 4 of them, and have collected materials for 2 others. I have a rubbermaid container for each child with the pattern, and add fabrics as I find them. When I started this, I only had 8 grandchildren. I have to learn to make quilts faster than my kids can make babies.
ReplyDeleteI follow you by email.
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful quilt! It is a stunner! I have so many quilts on my bucket list but one is to finish a vintage Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt/ I purchased the blocks long ago and have them partially put together. It will take another 10 years or so.... LOL
ReplyDeleteI have many I want to make! But the one I am working on now is a Pat Speth Star and Crown pattern.
ReplyDeleteI think your quilt is spectacular, love those colors!
One item on my list is Grandmothers Flower Garden.
ReplyDeleteI have been following with GFC.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt; it's stunning. I love the colors. In my overflowing bucket is a kit I bought some years ago at Monica's in Palm Desert. The quilt is of Palm Springs.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! What a beautiful quilt. I don't really have a bucket list...I'm just having fun making whatever I want in the moment.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing job. I would like to make a paper pieced pineapple quilt. I have always oved that pattern.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! this quilt is absolutely stunning. I love the shades of green!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this at Needle and Thread Thursday!

Want to make a totally scrappy (both fabrics and blocks) queen sized quilt using old blocks, new blocks, big blocks, tiny blocks, and have it turn out beautifully instead of like a junk shop special.
ReplyDeleteIt took me 14 months but I have just finished Contessa by Wing and a Prayer - it was quite a feat! The longarmer gets to do the rest!
ReplyDeleteI am now following your blog. Your quilt is beautiful by the way. I actually have a picture of that pattern that I snapped while on vacation in Amish country in mid-Ohio. Technically I guess that is on my bucketlist too.
ReplyDeleteOh I have Eureka on my list as well. Your is gorgeous!! I've got the pattern hanging in my quilt room and I really want to do the kings size, just can't decide on colors. But may your greens and purples may be just the solution I need!
ReplyDeleteI"m a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteI have two bucket list quilts that I really want to get done some day, the first is a Mariner's Compass and the second is a Baltimore Album. I have all the fabric for both quilts and have actually started on the Mariner's Compass, but it always seems to get put aside for some other project that needs to be done sooner and since these two quilts are ultimately for me, they get put on the back burner. Some day I will finish them both and be very grateful that I didn't give up on them I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI follow you on Bloglovin!
ReplyDeleteOn my Bucket List is a Celtic Knot of some sort.I haven't quite decided which pattern yet.
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt. My bucket list is longer than long. Guess I need to weed some out.
ReplyDeleteI have oh, so many, but a mariner's compass made from fabric my husband found on our honeymoon. Yep, he went into a quilt shop on our honeymoon. He's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteI have finally found some time to work on one of my bucket list quilts that I started two years ago. It's a Quilt of Many Colors and it has an appliqued border. I have been afraid to tackle it. This past year I finally got brave, bought a book and accomplished two lap size quilts requiring applique pieces. Now that I feel more comfortable, I got the quilt out this week and have done one of the four borders and working on the second one. I love your quilt and the colors are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt! I am a big fan of purple and the greens make for a perfect color combo.
ReplyDeleteOne that has been on my bucket list for many years - a traditionally made Hawaiian applique block. I wanted to take a class, but never found one to work with my schedule. I finally bought a book with patterns, excellent instructions, and lots of demonstrating photos. I started my first block in January and I am almost done with my very first block. It is all hand-stitched with no guidelines. I am quite happy with the outcome considering I picked one of the hardest patterns with sea turtles swimming among leafy-seaweed.
I am following your blog and "liked" your FB page.
Wow...your quilt is gorgeous! I found you through the FabShopHop (chasing that bunny!) I have been a mostly self taught quilter for years. I signed up for a beginners class last fall to accompany a friend who wanted to try quilting. She quit, but I took off!!! I have finished all sorts of projects. I love the sampler we made in class..but also the two color quilt I finally completed and quilted for my youngest daughter..to replace the see-though fabric, well worn and loved baby quilt she has had for close to 30 yrs (it was actually made for someone else...and recovered when that family discarded it!! Can you imagine!)
